Maxwell Bodenheim Born In Mississippi In 1892 Murdered In Greenwich Village 1954

Maxwell Bodenheim was born in Mississippi in 1892. His family moved to Chicago when he was 8 years old.  The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi has a good collection of his books in the Mississippi Room in the University Library. They also have good collections of many other Mississippi authors.
Young Bodenheim in his salad days.

Old Bodenheim. He used to stand and curse the workers who installed stop lights in Greenwich Village.

What's the Catch? JUST ONE CATCH A Biography Of Joseph Heller By Tracy Daugherty Catch-22 Explained

Click on the page above to enlarge it and read a page from the book that explains Catch-22.  What it was and what it is. Also see below from Catch-22.

"There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one's safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to he was sane and had to. Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle.

"That's some catch, that Catch-22," he observed.

"It's the best there is," Doc Daneeka agreed."

Eugene Walter-"Cholesterol"

Click on the Youtube to go to Youtube and see this full screen and read about where and when this was filmed. Eugene was really too much. I wonder what all those old men from Alabama thought of Eugene and his imaginary harp and funny song. Eugene loved to eat and did not worry about cholesterol.
