Per Thomas Plays A Fine Trumpet on YouTube

Check out his other YouTube videos. Just search for perthomas02.
Per is Danish now living in Ecuador. But he will soon be moving back to Paris where the above video was made a couple of years ago. He is also a fine painter. We met him 2 years ago in Paris.
I really like his trumpet sound. Reminds me of Chet Baker. But he also sings and plays the piano and guitar. He made this video also. He is a fine videographer. Click on the video to enlarge to full screen for best viewing.

Sanibel Island Florida and the Ding Darling Bird Sanctuary

The above picture is of a female crocodile in the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island Florida. It is the only crocodile there but there are many other alligators around.
1/27/2010 We just got word that this crocodile just died. Maybe the cold weather recently had something to do with her death or maybe it was just old age.

Sanibel Island is a small island off the coast from Ft. Myers, Florida. We first went there in 1976. It has not really changed much since that time. Most of the small island is the Ding Darling Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary. Sanibel is a special place. No high rise development is allowed. There are no fast food places or chain stores on Sanibel. Well there is one Dairy Queen that has always been there that was allowed to stay. And there is one Starbucks on Captiva. But that is it. The rest are small stores and restaurants that are very much not chain stores or restaurants. The local residents work very hard to keep them out.

2010 New Year and 2010 P Street N.W. Washington D.C.

The above photo is a picture of our daughter Lorelei sitting on my motorcycle on the sidewalk in front of 2010 P St.N.W. Washington D.C. in the year 1969. She was three years old at that time.
Happy New Year 2010. That was also our address for four years in Washington, D.C. from 1967 to 1971. We lived near Dupont Circle at 2010 P Street N.W. Washington, D.C.

At that time that neighborhood was a good place to be. Probably still is. I know we lived in a large top floor apartment over Excello Cleaners. It was the only apartment above the cleaners.

There is now a Subway sandwich shop where the Excello Cleaners used to be. Next door was a liquor store and across the street was a Safeway Grocery Store. Next to the liquor store was a really nice Chinese restaurant called the Nanking. On the other side of us was a small mom and pop drugstore and on that corner was a High's Dairy small grocery store. On the corner of 20th and P St. was another drug store that later became Buffalo Bill's carryout and then finally a second hand bookstore called Second Story Books.

I have always liked that number 2010. We pronounced it 20 ten.
