Heavy D and the Boyz used to stay at the Washington Plaza Hotel in Washington D.C. when I worked there in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
They were always well behaved and never caused any trouble. They would drive down from New York City where they lived and check in the Washington Plaza Hotel when they had a gig in D.C.
But I do remember the last time they came they arrived with bullet holes in their car. Seems they had a shoot out on the way down. Nobody was hurt. I think they had to uphold a reputation as a bunch of bad rappers.
