Stewart Family Pictures From A Little Photo Book By Bhob Stewart

Some years ago my brother Bhob Stewart put together a little book of some photographs of our family.

Here they are.
Click on the pictures to enlarge them. Above is our mother Anne Barnett Stewart and Bhob on the left and me on the right.
Me around 1972 in Mobile Alabama sitting in my mother and grandmother's Mission Rocker chair.

This was around 1942 or 1943 in Meridian Mississippi across the street from our grandmother's house.
Bhob Stewart is on the left of our mother and I am on the right. Bhob was 3 years older than me. Probably his first year in school in Stevenson Elementary School just across the street.

Lorelei and me inspecting the gully near 6200 Biloxi Avenue where we lived in 1971 and 1972. Mobile, Alabama way out near the University of South Alabama.

Bhob, Dad, Mom and me. Meridian, Miss. at grandmother's house around 1953.

Me around 1972 in Mobile Alabama at a Petting Zoo.
This is the whole picture.

Bhob and Joe in a pedal tractor which today would be worth a lot of money. Big bucks on Ebay for sure.

Bhob, Joe, and Josephine.
Joe on the road to San Francisco in summer of 1969 with Bhob who took the picture.

Joe with pipe in Mobile 1972.
Joe in  grammar school. 1946 or 1947.
Joe and Bobby in Meridian during WW2.

Joe and Bobby in the early 1940s. In swings by grandmother's house at 920 25th Avenue.

Bhob and Joe. Flag wavers during WW2.
Birthday party for some one. Joe and Bobby on the front row at left.

This is one of my most favorite photographs. It is Bob on the left. Mom in the middle and me on the right.
Taken in Saltillo Mexico at Horsetail Falls around 1952.

I see someone has added my brother Bhob Stewart to the list.

With The Kirbyville High School Band on the way to New Orleans to march in the Crescent City mardi Gras parade on Sunday March 20, 1955. That is me standing in front of the tree.

Click on the pictures to enlarge them. I took this picture above of an old man sitting in a chair. When I raised my little camera to take his picture he covered his face. I still wonder why.

Waiting on the other band members to get going.
The band walking in front of the St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans 1955.

On the steps of the Capitol Building in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

In front of the Palace Theater. It is impossible to overstate the importance of a movie theater
in a small town like Kirbyville, Texas. It was our link to the outside world. Now they only play country music on the weekends. Back in 1952 to 1955 when we lived there we saw first run movies all the time. And the jukeboxes and radios played all the country and rock and roll music that was just beginning. Another link to the outside world. We had no TV set  back then. But radio was great. WWL radio station in New Orleans played modern and old jazz music late at night.

The mural that is there now of the old men on the hookworm bench.
The real old men on the "hookworm bench".

Two pictures of Bhob Stewart from the 1955 Kirbyville High School annual THE WILDCAT.
That is Bhob at the blackboard with some of his drawings. Note the bolo tie.

 Old Kirbyville Texas around 1952.
Kirbyville Texas downtown now. Main street a ghost town now. This was around 1996.

Bhob Stewart At The Gettysburg Battlefield August 1995

Click on the picture to enlarge it.
Rachel took this picture on August 24, 1995.

Bhob is reaching up to shake hands with the fallen soldier.
Look closely and you will see that is the Mississippi monument.

When we lived in Vicksburg, Miss. after WW2 we visited the Vicksburg Civil War Battlefield often.
Rachel and I also visited the Vicksburg Battlefield in March of 1996.

A Cartoon Satire Of Jesus Christ's Birth...Pregnant Mary On The Way To Bethlehem By Bhob Stewart From The Realist 1961

My brother Bhob Stewart drew this cartoon for the magazine The Realist in 1961. Bhob died on Feb. 24, 2014.  I always liked this cartoon. I think it was one of his best. And it is relevant today. Bhob's cartoon of the Prophet Jesus's Birth.

Click on the above picture to enlarge it.
Please note the halo over Mary's head. And the halo over her baby bump.
