Chumley Gets Bob Dylan's Autograph In Las Vegas

Chumley is a character on Pawn Stars on the History Channel. This video doesn't show the final twist which is when Chumley takes it back to the Pawn Shop his bosses say the fact that it is signed to Chumley makes it unsaleable so they just tell Chumley to keep it. I suspect that is the way the show sold the idea to Dylan. "Look. You can sign it to Chumley that way we can't sell it and make money off of it".

In the pawn shop they had paid some guy off the street 50 dollars for an unsigned copy. I think that is way more than that album is worth unsigned. There are hundreds of copies of this LP listed on Ebay. Only one had a bid and it was for 3.99.  I would guess 10 to 20 dollars is about right for a mint original copy of Self Portrait. So many were sold when it came out in 1970 that it is very common.

Still it is a real nice video of Bob Dylan in Las Vegas in daylight. Note the tour bus and bodyguards in the background at the end of the video.
Double click on the video to go to Youtube and read the comments. There is something about Rolling Thunder in the upper right corner at 1:27 of the video. I don't know if that is true but it does seem to be a picture of Dylan up on the screen.
This was a nice little staged event.
